- Leading production flow and finished product manufacturing
- Continuously work in a team environment to improve yields, efficiencies, and product quality
- Communicate with and engage the team members on key operational strategies
- Service the needs of the customer to include other departments and co-workers
- Continuously work as a team play to improve yields, efficiencies, and production quality
- Share and help production team to succeed in making the Company successful by working towards a common goal and objectives
- Supervise to lead by example, and ensure that all training requirements are met for the hourly staff in areas of production, quality of products, operation of equipment and safety
- Accountable for facilitating achieving operational targets and budgets including product yields, labor usage and related costs and productivity with daily reporting of results and service objectives
- Monitor, audit and follow up with team members on execution of key operational strategies
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Safe Quality Food (SQF), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements are followed while demonstrating a strong commitment to food safety
- Provide suggestions to the operating team with committed leadership on lean manufacturing and continuous improvements and other cost savings improvements, tracked daily and weekly and process improvements are implemented through actions resulting in effective and efficient process flow
- Initiate employee discipline and corrective actions as needed, working with Human Resources and Management to insure fair and consistent policy application and compliance with company policy and federal, state and local laws; assist Human Resources with employee relations or other workplace investigations
- Support positive employee relations, recognition, fair treatment and respect in all aspects of interaction with employees; address employee concerns/requests in a timely and caring manner; insure all employees and ideas are respected and valued and their unique and diverse perspectives are leveraged to improve business results
- Review daily department timekeeping records, and verify weekly time records for department staff; monitor employee attendance/absenteeism and hold employees accountable as appropriate within established company policies and practices
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
- Work with Production Manager to establish weekly production schedules, changes, communication, and employee issues/concerns
- Promote a team atmosphere, healthy and safe work environment for all employees providing consistent and ongoing communication and direction.
- Accountable for ensuring compliance to all safety programs, requirements and practices
- Work with management team to develop annual, quarterly, and monthly objectives in support of the strategic and tactical plans.
- Must be flexible to working overtime including weekends
- Be on time as scheduled per Production Manager (scheduled time can change due to business demands or training)
- Bilingual a plus
- BS/BA; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of two years in a food industry environment and at least two years of supervisory/leadership experience within a meat processing environment; FDA/USDA experience a plus
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a solid track record of people development, team building, conflict resolution, and the ability to train and motivate personnel to achieve efficient production results
- Computer proficiency including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge and experience working with Food Industry equipment
- Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, procedures, and specifications
- Knowledge of basic math /Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to successfully interact with diverse personalities at all levels in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles
- Working knowledge of GMP’s, SOP’s, HAACP, OSHA and other quality and safety programs in food processing environments
