Job Description
Grinders are specialized workers that use grinding tools to cut many types of materials. It is vital that they understand how to use grinding equipment properly in order to perform duties safely and quickly.
Grinders should also have a complete understanding of general construction and manufacturing safety, including experience working around large machines.
Job Brief:
We’re looking for someone with a background in production related manufacturing with a focus on quality, productivity, and dependability to join our team.
Grinder Duties:
· Grind, polish and/or finishes various sizes of battery and mine trays.
· Studies blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
· Operates the rough and finish grinders through use of the production schedule and communication with shift supervisor.
· Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal work pieces.
· Lift and position work pieces, manually or with hoists.
Grinder Responsibilities:
· Observe & follow all safety policies and procedures in compliance with the organizational rules, while seeking continuous improvement. Responsible for his/her safety as well as that of his/her colleagues.
· Actively supports all Standard Technology activities, i.e. failure analysis etc.
· Supports all job functions by being cross trained in each area.
· Familiarity with ISO standards and requirements.
· Exercises independent judgment as needed.
Requirements And Skills:
· Experience in the use of power tools such as electric or pneumatic grinders, buffing wheels, stroke sanders, and other methods of metal finishing are necessary.
· Able to follow quality standards on a consistent basis.
· Attentiveness, focus, strength and stamina are key traits needed for this process[ES1].
Preferred Skills
· Ability to read blueprints
· Welding experience
· A strong work ethic and ability to work independently
