What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airframe Structural Technician position at StandardAero?
This role will involve performing internal and external sheet metal repairs, modifications, and installations to all aircraft serviced at the facility. The successful candidate will research and develop repair schemes using blueprints, engineering orders, service bulletins, and other technical publications.
The individual will be responsible for fabricating various sheet metal parts in their entirety by interpreting blueprints, calculating angles, diameters, and bend allowances, and then cutting, shaping and forming the part.
A strong background in sheet metal fabrication is essential, including experience with building I-beams, doublers, stringers, and avionics trays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural aircraft repairs using appropriate sheet metal techniques and fasteners.
- Remove, replace, and relocate headers, stringers, doors, beams, and bulkheads while building up surfaces and structures to specifications.
- Install Service Bulletin kits using parts and instructions provided by OEM.
- Plan and develop schemes for sheet metal repairs and modifications by utilizing blueprints, sketches, service bulletins, OEM specifications, engineering orders, and other technical publications.
- Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and protractors, to accomplish repairs or modifications.
- Inspect aircraft in accordance with OEM Light or Heavy Maintenance manuals and evaluate removed components for serviceability, documenting discrepancies.
- Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
- Accomplish Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required.
- Analyze various mechanical problems to determine causes and the best methods of repair.
Requirements:
- A minimum of three (3) years sheet metal fabrication experience is required.
- Prior experience working in the capacity of an aircraft sheet metal fabricator or structural mechanic is preferred.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand for 8 hours per day.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A valid FAA Airframe License (ideally A&P)
- Corporate Aviation experience is strongly desired.
