What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Standex?
The Direct Materials Buyer role, located on site in Watertown and will be responsible for setting up new items and executing the buying and planning of materials to support the customers. The role will work with multiple vendors and internal teams to deliver high-quality products on time for customer orders. This role will also be a key team member for the upcoming Oracle ERP implementation. Work is primarily in an office environment; however, you will be required to perform duties on or with manufacturing and / or warehouse setting.
What You'll Do
Material Resource Planning
- Performs day to day purchasing activities including purchase requisitions, purchase orders (MRP)
- Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods
- Analyzing market trends to determine the most competitive prices.
- Support vendor segmentation into Grow, Maintain, Exit. Develop strong relationships with Grow and maintain, while working with Sourcing to replace Exit vendors.
- Review and manage the shortage reports
- Contact Suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Prepare and update inter-site order transfers.
- Update system with Suppliers confirming ship dates.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
