Junior High Teacher

 

Supervisor:                            Principal and Assistant Principal

 

Requirements:

 

  1. Education Level:            Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education in

Specific subject area.

 

  1. Experience:                     Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a

High School Teacher.

 

  1. Other Requirements:    Must have a valid North Dakota Teaching License

With specific subject area.

 

Knowledge and skills in effective learning styles and strategies, performance based assessment, effective instructional methods, communications, learning methods (cooperative learning, experiential learning, active learning, other) and school climate development.

 

Ability to communicate effectively orally and written.

 

Ability to serve in a consultative capacity with parents, students and other staff members in regards to a student’s education.

 

Ability to use authority, set boundaries, and hold high standards for students.

 

Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.

 

Ability to meet professional teacher requirements of the school and state.

 

Exhibits attributes of reliable attendance, promptness, and dependability.

 

 

Must have a valid Driver’s License.

 

Must pass a background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, Public Law 101-630.

 

Must submit to a pre-employment Drug Test.

 

Indian and Veteran’s Preference considered.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

 

This requires the teacher to facilitate and engage students in their learning.  To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.    

 

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  2. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  3. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  4. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  5. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  6. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  7. Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student assignments.
  8. Encourage, assess and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  9. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  10. Maintain and update student data in the NASIS program or other school software required by laws, school policies and regulations.
  11. Prepare required reports on students and activities.  Prepare and mail progress notes to parents on a regular basis.
  12. Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
  13. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student concerns and needs.
  14. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  15. Prepare classroom for class activities
  16. Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development.
  17. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  18. Maintain professional competence by participating in professional staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities.
  19. Encourage parent and community involvement to benefit student learning.
  20. Gain an understanding of the culture, contributions and unique attributes of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
  21. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the SRCGS Policies and Procedures.
  22. Performs additional duties deemed necessary as assigned by the Supervisor.
