Requirements:
- Educational Level: Associate of Arts Degree or a minimum of 63 college credits.
- Requirements: North Dakota Paraprofessional Certificate of Completion or
Or achieve a passing score on a state-approved mathematics, reading, and writing assessment that evaluates as a level equivalent to the second year of college and includes assessment of:
The knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or
The knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness.
Must be punctual, reliable, responsible, and maintain
Confidentiality.
Ability to communicate in a courteous manner with students and staff.
Participate in Professional Development as required.
A valid Driver’s License.
Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug test.
Must pass a background check in accordance with the
Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention
Act, Public Law 101-630.
Indian and Veteran’s preference is considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
This position assists students under the direction of a certified teacher. This position assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities.
- Provide supplementary instructional assistance to students which is designated to increase the proficiency of students to be served by the education program, in consultation with and the direction of the regular program teacher in the regular classroom.
- Participate in on-going training in effective methods for increasing student proficiency in education skills through the use of appropriate teaching strategies.
- Provide assistance to the teacher in the implementing of policies, procedures, materials, and curriculum strategies.
- Ensure that individual endeavors are complimentary to the standards of the teaching profession and to the nature of respected individuals, including demonstration of positive behavior in the community as well as in the school environment.
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Standing Rock Community School Policies and Procedures.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
