Department: Standing Rock 0-5 Program
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Teacher Aide is responsible in assistant the Teacher and Center Supervisor in carrying out the classroom activities and component plans, which will include; working closely with the parents/families to secure the needs of the children in the classroom.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries.
- Promote good health and nutrition.
- Provide materials and resources that support each child’s development and learning, through positive communication, verbal, and non-verbal interaction on a daily basis.
- Provide equipment, activities, and opportunities for the children to promote physical development.
- Provide instructional support, quality of feedback and language modeling activities for the children on a daily basis.
- Provide activities related to the three domains in CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System).
- Provide activities related to the three Class domains: Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional support on a daily basis.
- Help children learn to get along with others and encourage feelings of empathy and mutual respect among children and adults.
- Be a competent organizer, planner, and record keeper by creating lesson plans on how you incorporate teaching strategies into your daily practices with children in each of the CLASS dimensions.
- Maintain an open, friendly, and informative relationship with children’s families and encourage their participation in the Head Start curriculum and program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a High School Diploma. Child Development Associate (CDA) or two (2) year Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must submit a verification of annual physical including TB skin test prior to employment.
- Must pass Contact or Control over Children background check (no convictions of child abuse/child neglect/ crimes of violence).
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Will be required to obtain Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one (1) year of hire and track CDA certification renewal.
- Must complete CPR & First Ide training within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Will be required to obtain Food Handlers certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Will be required to attend trainings and participate in professional development program and sign necessary agreements when applicable.
- Will be required to attend monthly parent meetings at Head Start Centers and communities as requested.
- Will be required to demonstrate working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards Manual.

No Tribal housing is available. The position is located at the respective Head Start Center. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Center Supervisor/Lead Teacher.
