This is an exciting opportunity to work on brain imaging studies of cognitive function and dysfunction, cognitive development and learning disabilities. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of research in the lab, including: acquisition and analysis of functional and structural brain imaging data, assembling, administering, and scoring neuropsychological assessments, screening and recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, scheduling participants for testing, tracking progress of the study and behavioral data, verifying data and entering pertinent information into database for statistical analysis, conducting statistical analyses, and assisting with manuscript preparation. Please note many sessions with research participants will take place on the weekends, and occasionally in the evenings. A minimum commitment of two years is required.

Duties Include

  • Assemble, administer, and score neuropsychological assessments; track progress of study and behavioral data; verify data and enter pertinent information into database for statistical analysis.
  • Assist with recruitment of research participants through physical and electronic means (events, phone calls, social media, etc.)
  • Screen and obtain informed consent from participants.
  • Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
  • Code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collect study specimens according to protocol.
  • Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities. Assist with post-study activities, as needed.

  • Desired Qualifications

    • BS/BA degree in Psychology, Human Biology, Neurosciences, Biomedical engineering or related fields
    • Previous research experience in cognitive neuroscience
    • Previous experience in performing brain imaging data acquisition, neuropsychological assessments and signal processing helpful
    • Ability and desire to work well with children
    • Experience with any of the following would be an added advantage: brain imaging data acquisition, MRI data analysis, neuropsychological assessments, computer programming, MATLAB, signal processing, and statistical analysis.
    • The candidate must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with children; a willingness to tackle complex tasks in an independent manner; and a strong work ethic.

    Education & Experience (required)

    Two year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (required)

    General knowledge of medical terminology.

    Certifications & Licenses

    W orking toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

    • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
    • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
    • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.

    Working Conditions

    • Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluid or tissues and risk of exposure to contagious diseases and infections.

    Theexpectedpayrangeforthis positionis$28.59-$32.90 hourly.StanfordUniversityprovidespayranges representingitsgood faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
