The Commercial Banking Officer I (CBO I) is a junior underwriting position. The CBO I will manage a portfolio consisting of small balance loans and participation loans. The CBO I is responsible to ensure loan reviews are current and any negative emerging trends are addressed, as well as monitoring reporting requirements for covenants and ensuring reporting is updated in accordance with procedures. CBO I is responsible to ensure all loan reviews are completed under assigned delinquency threshold rate. The position is responsible to identify credit concerns in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements, the credit union's policies, and procedures. The CBO I is expected grow business credit cards, small business loans and participations in their assigned loan portfolio.

Who YOU are:
- Knowledge in each aspect of the 5 C's of Credit: Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral and Conditions.
- Proficient in reviewing commercial appraisals and environmental reports.
- Knowledge with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with effective presentations skills.
- Possess versatility and flexibility to successfully serve as a backup to other positions.
- Present a positive professional image.
- Strong business writing skills.
- Bachelor's degree, plus one years of commercial underwriting experience.
- Certification in Commercial Lending a plus.
What YOU’LL do:
- Manage assigned loan portfolio by maintaining loan reviews under credit union's assigned delinquency threshold. Including analyzing financial statements, tax returns, market data to assess and recommend appropriate risk grading.
- Generate business from assigned portfolio, including deposits, business credit cards, small business loans and commercial loans.
- Independently and accurately underwrite and prepare credit memos for loan approval for business credit cards, small business loans and participation purchases.
Perform collateral evaluation, verify values, perform asset valuation and verification, investigate credit histories, and evaluate personal and business assets and financial statements. - Maintain current knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the commercial portfolio.
- Assist CBO Teams in completing loan reviews as necessary
- Understand and stay abreast of changes to SFCU Policy and Procedures, and NCUA Regulations, including but not limited to, The Bank Secrecy Act, The Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets and Control.
- When needed coordinate and assist in collection and recovery of problem loans.
- Participate in department projects and perform specific and delegated duties, as assigned by VP Commercial Lending.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
