A Brief Overview
The Manager, Nursing Informatics is responsible for reviewing, facilitating, planning, and implementing EHR optimization in partnership with the SHC Information Technology teams and other value-add performance improvements as defined by Nursing Strategic priorities. This role is key to staying attune to the needs of clinicians across the enterprise to improve and optimize efficiency in documentation of care while maintaining quality standards.

What You Will Do
- Manages teams to improve communication, relevance and accuracy of compliance reporting and data system audits.
- Monitors Epic documentation for compliance and regulatory standards.
- Continually analyze future trends in healthcare, healthcare information technologies and other pertinent industries that will impact the priorities of Nursing Strategic plan.
- Manages teams who study workflows of clinicians and elicits feedback across the enterprise.
- Evaluates EHR for opportunities to streamline documentation through participation with Nursing Workgroups such as Shared Leadership and feedback sessions.
- Aligns priorities of new Epic functionality and enhancements with the Nursing and SHC Strategic Plan.
- Aligns with workflows in the clinical setting with not just Nursing, but all clinicians across the enterprise.
- Responsible for alignment of documentation required for Magnet, Quality Improvement, Business Continuity and Research.
- Partners with Operational Leadership across the enterprise, TDS and Epic Informatics teams to identify necessary education needs for clinicians.
- Manages the budget for assigned direct reports.
- Manages contracted individuals and/or direct reports where appropriate
- Bachelors in Nursing required; Masters in Nursing preferred from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience Required
- Ability to delegate responsibly to others, activities according to ability, level of preparation, the standards of practice and regulatory guidelines
- Ability to develop programs and lead process improvement projects
- Ability to establish the strategic direction and business plans for a functional group
- Ability to initiate and implement change conducive to the improvement of the quality and safety as outlined by, SHC and Nursing strategic priorities
- Ability to provide leadership, influence others to meet end user needs and achieve shared goals, to effectively prioritize system resources to promote cooperative behaviors, act as a role model, resource and mentor
- Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
- Ability to use information and keep abreast of developments in technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making
- Knowledge of current theories, principles, practices, standards, emerging technologies, techniques and approaches in the nursing profession, and the health care system, and the responsibility and accountability for the outcome
- Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care in the area of EHR documentation of Nursing practice and standards of care
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management essential to the practice of nursing in the larger context of health care as it relates to documentation of Nursing Practice and standards of care
- Knowledge of principles, practices and current trends in health care and hospital system organization and administration sufficient to provide management, leadership, coordination, and operational direction for assigned areas of responsibility
- Ability to quickly learn and apply applicable state and federal labor and wage hour laws, hospital personnel rules, policies and procedures, and provisions of collective bargaining agreements
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
- Knowledge of human resources staffing requirements, needs and problems associated with hospitals, especially in relation to nursing
- Nursing\RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure required
- Certification in Informatics preferred
