Position Overview: As a Semi-Truck Dispatcher, you will be responsible for managing the scheduling, routing, and coordination of semi-trucks to ensure timely and safe deliveries. You will also be required to book loads as needed through the DAT Load Board to maximize efficiency. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have a strong understanding of the transportation industry. This position requires availability to handle after-hours calls and respond to urgent needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch trucks to assigned routes, ensuring efficient and timely delivery.
- Communicate with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and address any issues that arise.
- Track truck locations and delivery progress using GPS and other tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Handle customer inquiries regarding delivery status and assist with resolving issues.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities and deliveries.
- Collaborate with the operations team to optimize routes and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage emergency situations, including breakdowns, delays, and accidents.
- Provide support for drivers with route changes, equipment needs, and any other concerns.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dispatcher or in a transportation/logistics role.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in dispatch software, GPS tracking, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in logistics is a plus.
- Availability to take after-hours calls as needed.
- Must have a fast-typing speed for efficient communication and data entry.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.50 - $19.75 per hour
