This position is expected to work 6 days a week at minimum during our Harvest Season. During the off season (October through June), you will be responsible for repairing, overhauling, and maintaining tomato harvesting equipment. During harvest season (July through September), you will manage harvest crews during harvest, diagnose and repair issues as they arise and take a proactive approach to maintain equipment in the field to prevent unnecessary downtime.
This position will be primarily responsible for:
- Repairing, overhauling and maintaining tomato harvesting equipment.
- Providing emergency and unscheduled repairs during season as needed.
- Managing crews during harvest season.
- Maintaining safety for all crew, themselves included.
- Diagnosing equipment problems and repairing in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to manage crews during the harvest season.
- Willingness to travel during harvest season.
- Verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work independently and within the team.
- Safety mindset.
- Valid CA Driver License.
Candidate Preferences:
- An understanding of farm or harvest equipment.
- At least 2 years experience leading teams in some capacity.
- At least 2 years proven experience in a mechanical environment.
- A degree or in process of completion of degree in related field.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 10% or more sitting, 5% or less walking, and 85% or more standing. The job is performed under temperature variations and in a shop or field environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 45 lbs. is required.
