JOB GOAL:
Under the direction of the building principal the school counselor plans and provides for appropriate services for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of all students. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies guidance lessons and materials to meet the needs of all students. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling
- Valid North Dakota Teaching License with School Counselor Credential
- Ability to develop positive and meaningful relationships with students and families
- Experience working with complex student behaviors preferred
- Prior counseling experience preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide services to students in the areas of academic, personal/social and career development.
- Counsel students individually and in small groups.
- Conduct classroom guidance activities.
- Expose students to career exploration and interest inventories.
- Review school data frequently to ensure that the school counseling program is meeting the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.
- Prepare reports, records, lists and all other required information and data.
- Encourage teacher/parent communication and community involvement.
- Assist students in conflict resolution.
- Manage crises.
- Assist in the identification of students with special needs.
- Refer students to intervention/remediation programs, as well as, academic and alternative programs to ensure academic success and personal well-being.
- Interpret student records.
- Initiate student programs.
- Refer students to appropriate school personnel and community agencies.
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences.
- Serve as resource for school personnel and parents.
- Follow required procedures and practices.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Perform related work as required.

- Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position constitutes a certified position with the Stanley Community Public School District.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- Salary: Depends on experience and education level, the position has a starting salary of $52,350 with a Master’s Degree following the 2024-2025 negotiated agreement
- Fringe Benefit to be used toward health, life, or disability insurance, Medical flex spending or fringe to cash salary.
- Personal Days: 4 per year (accumulate up to 6)
- Sick Days: 10 per year (accumulate up to 180)
