Delivers safety and security services including the implementation and administration of programs that assist the campus community in maintaining order, and/or improving the personal safety of the students, faculty, staff, visitors and property of the College. This position assists the director of security in the directing and preparing of plans for all operational emergency support functions of the College and its operating divisions. This position would assist in all emergency preparedness and improvement of preventive safety measures. This officer shall be supervised by the security director of Stanly Community College.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Required: Basic Law Enforcement Certification.Minimum 2 years’ work experience in Law Enforcement.Maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.Candidate must be sworn officer.Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Participate in programs that expand the College’s capacity to prevent, respond to, mitigate, contain and recover from emergencies.Assist in training programs for all employees, both full time & part time.Be available to assist emergency response in conformance with National Incident Management System (NIMS), local/state/federal regulations, and other preparedness skill sets and competencies.Be aware of and utilize NIMS compliant incident command structures to support College Emergency Response Plan implementation, coordinating with outside response agencies.Attend and conduct planning of emergency response activities, including periodic drills, with standing policy College wide.Responds to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, domestic disputes, loud and disruptive behavior, and other needs. Completes calls by determining the true nature of the situation and taking whatever legal or persuasive action is warranted. Performs investigations of accidents and crimes through observation, questioning witnesses and gathering physical evidence, perform investigative tasks, arrests and processes criminal suspects. Serve as a source of information to college employees in matters relating to safety and security.Provide effective safety and security instruction and transmit safety information to the College employees.Make recommendations for facilities, equipment, personnel, and operation needs with regards to safety and emergency planning.Make regular patrol rounds and safety checks. Monitor camera system. Responsible for securing campus buildings at the end of shift.Utilize the door access system for locking and unlocking building doors as needed and maintain lockdown protocols. Make proper crime reports and address calls of assistance by students, faculty, and staff.Provide evening escorts to cars as requested.Audit external lighting for safety and repairs.Perform other duties as assigned.JOB TRAINING: Required Position Training to be completed in the first year of hire: Onboarding and SCC required training.The city of Albemarle required training for reserve officers.Title IX and Clery Act training.Suggested Training: Colleague for contact information.
