Your Opportunity
You will perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, corrective action, mining, biology, and other environmental programs. You will be required to write reports, develop plans, and implement steps to move projects forward to successful completion in the most cost-effective manner.
The successful candidate will work in a team environment and will be responsible for contributing to environmental assessments, resource analysis, and environmental permitting for a variety of clients. You will also be responsible for assisting with proposals, report writing, and occasionally conducting field work.
- Primary focus will be to support first-party mine permitting applications, technical documents, project development, agency engagement, and compliance monitoring.
- Document and occasionally perform field data collection activities; assist in the completion of project level work (data management, report preparation) on environmental remediation/management projects for commercial/industrial clients.
- Support technical writing for compliance reporting, permitting, and plan development.
- Conduct impact analyses across a variety of natural resources, and work to ensure the success of the team and efficiency of NEPA projects.
- Assist in data review and writing NEPA sections and/or baseline documents.
- Support internal review processes for technical documents (formatting, grammar, and consistency across documents).
- Take detailed meeting minutes.
- Learn and follow standard operating procedures for work assigned, while continuing to develop skills.
- Demonstrate ability to analyze field and technical data, and draft technical reports.
- Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training (including MSHA required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures.
- Follow established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to complete entry level and routine assignments.
- This position is part of a Nevada-based team and will likely require support to multiple Stantec offices across multiple disciplines: mining, natural resources, etc.
- A willingness to travel is preferred.
- Candidates will also likely be requested to support other service areas related to environmental assessment and remediation projects.
Additional duties may include handling day to day tasks such as:
- Data management, writing and preparation of reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda;
- Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.);
- Preparing proposals; and
- Preparing periodic status/program reports.

The preferred candidate will be self-motivated and possess the following attributes:

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather such as extreme heat, cold, precipitation, and dry conditions.
Camping and overnight travel may be required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience, preferably in the environmental field, or working for a federal/state environmental agency and/or 2 years of experience working with environmental permitting projects relating to NEPA. Experience with additional regulatory requirements is a plus.
