Your Opportunity
The role of Senior Planner is to work collaboratively and interdependently on a wide range of Community Development projects. This position is primarily private sector oriented, however you also may work on public sector planning projects. This role will focus primarily on projects in the Metropolitan Los Angeles market area with expanded project opportunities across the US.
Projects include due diligence and feasibility for a variety of land development projects, regulatory permitting/entitlements/approvals, asset transformation and brownfield planning, mixed use projects, commercial/industrial projects, and master planned communities.

Your Opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities
- Play a key technical role on projects, providing strategic advice and direction throughout all project stages.
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Prepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints and project objectives to evolve the project layout.
- Lead and be actively engaged with current and prospective client’s relationship building and maintenance.
- Provide support for client agreements, pre-qualifications, and proposal preparation.
- Assist with business development and marketing efforts to grow Stantec’s community development practice with a focus on planning opportunities.
- Participate in client functions, trade shows and conferences.
- Create and maintain relationships with other practice areas to promote cross-selling and interdisciplinary work.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven experience as a Lead Planner with understanding and ability to collaborate with architects, civil engineers, surveyors, and landscape architects.
- Thorough understanding of planning and design concepts and regulatory structure.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and input from a variety of stakeholders both virtually and in-person.
- Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Working knowledge of relevant software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat are a plus.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Effective networking and relationship management skills.
- Experience in business development.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in public and private sector community planning, entitlements, urban design, and land development.
