Responsibilities:
- Conduct utilization reviews to ensure appropriate patient care and resource allocation
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather necessary medical information for accurate documentation
- Utilize Athenahealth or similar systems to manage and update patient records
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10 coding guidelines and regulations
- Coordinate and facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care provided
- Provide guidance and education to nursing staff on medical coding and documentation best practices
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to medical coding and documentation
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical coding, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Experience in acute care or nursing home settings
- Proficient in utilizing electronic health record systems, such as Athenahealth
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams
- Attention to detail and accuracy in medical documentation and coding
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of pediatric medical coding is a plus
