Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator to join our team at Staples Construction Company. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead our estimating efforts and contribute to the company's growth.
About the Role:
- This position requires a strong background in construction management, estimating, and procurement with a proven track record of securing projects profitably.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to coordinate estimating services and ensure successful project delivery.
- A bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coordination of full estimating services on large, complex projects.
- Prepare complete estimates for selected projects, including detailed reviews of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, and contracting requirements.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other sources into unit and man-hour figures.
- Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate figures.
- Assist the contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
- Track awarded contracts, including estimating and pricing extra work items, change orders, and credits, as well as procuring materials.
- Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
- Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
- Position has direct profit and loss responsibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10 years of estimating experience in construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules, and safety.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills essential.
- Excellent Office Suite skills, specifically Excel, Word, and MS Project.
