What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Technician position at STAR Behavior Consultants?
The Behavior Technician’s main role is to provide direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in our clinic. STAR Behavior Consultants is an outpatient pediatric therapy clinic that provides ABA, Speech, and Occupational Therapy whose mission is to impact the quality of life of children. Some general job responsibilities include:
· Providing one-on-one therapy addressing goals prescribed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). These skills typically include communication, socialization, self-care, and pre-academic skills.
· Facilitating classroom readiness and group skills training programs that include working on skills such as attending to a group leader or staying on task for an independent work activity.
· Playing with the child to build appropriate play skills and build a relationship with the child.
· Implementing behavior intervention plans developed by a BCBA to reduce interfering behaviors and increase functional communication skills utilizing ABA principles.
· Collaborating with other departments to maximize effectiveness of therapy.
· Collecting data on child’s individual treatment goals and completing required documentation required by insurance companies.
· Consistently communicating with teammates and parents to stay up to date on child’s progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with working with children with special needs preferred, willing to train the right person
- Must have a positive attitude and enjoy working in a positive environment
- Must be passionate about assisting in children’s success
- Willingness to grow with and be flexible with current needs of our program
