What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Flooring Sales Associate position at Star Lumber & Supply?
Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. delivers confidence through our products and our people. We are seeking a results oriented Commercial Flooring Sales Associate to join our team. This role is responsible for managing existing accounts and prospecting new customers in commercial flooring and installation.
The sales role will work as a liaison between general contractors, onsite customer, end-users, sub-contractors and internal team members. This role is involved in bidding, estimating, selection of product, job planning, job site visits, coordinating with contractors, working with outside vendors and the overall completion of the job.
A Typical Day Looks Like
- Call on existing accounts to build relationships, respond to customer needs and sell the best product for each application.
- Communicate with vendors and assist estimators to ensure quotes meet bid deadline.
- Collaborate with estimators & project managers to ensure all installation expectations are defined and any issues are handled in timely manner.
- Execute detailed monthly sales and margin goals.
- Maintain high level of customer service through organization of tasks and responsibilities.
- Build effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders.
- Monitor and communicate the status of jobs through the installation process to stakeholders.
- Work with vendor representatives on products, pricing and other vendor related topics.
- Work extensively with customer(s) front office and G.C. project managers alike.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in sales or another related role.
- Demonstrated work in maintaining current book of business, while also prospecting and creating new accounts.
- Have worked with sales and margin goals in a commission-based pay system.
- Aptitude to make decisions, multi-task and economically solve problems.
- Ability to communicate proficiently with a variety of customers, verbally and written.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and or it’s process.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Some evening and weekend work when required.
Preferred Experience
- Flooring knowledge or related work experience
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve conflict and manage difficult conversations.
