What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver-Desert Star-OTR position at Star Nursery?
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pick-up and safely transport goods to intended destination
- Perform Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections of your vehicle daily
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
- Ensure contents are properly secured in trailer and/or on flatbed, to prevent damage/injury
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
- Effectively communicate with dispatch
- Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
- Track and report working hours
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations; Maintain Driver Logs
- EDL Driving Compliance & OSHA Safety compliance
- Timely delivery of orders
- Comply with Motive expectations
Minimum Driver Requirements
- Applicants must meet all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Qualifications;
- Have a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with proper endorsements in the applicants’ state of residence
- No current CDL suspension or revocation
- No failed or refused drug or alcohol test in the last 5 years (this includes DWI’s, DUI’s and BAC’s)
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Good DAC Report
- Clean Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) Report
- No convictions for a “serious or disqualifying traffic violation" within the last three (3) years
- A stable work history and good references, previous employers and references will be checked and must be verifiable
- Must provide no less than three (3) years of previous work history, applicants must also provide work history for all commercial driving jobs for the past ten (10) years
- Must pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen
- Must pass an ERGO exam
- Successfully complete orientation
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
- Must pass a background check, DOT drug test & Medical Certification (Fit-for-duty test) per FMCSA
