Summary:
The Production Operator is under the direction of the Shift Lead/Production Supervisor and will primarily operate various machines and equipment involved in production.
Essential Functions:
- Operates production machinery in accordance with the Structured Job Training (SJT) document. Assigned equipment may include Blender, Screener, Bagger, Shedders, Granulators, Bulk-In and Out, and Unloaders.
- Produces the required output within established specifications and tolerances.
- Measures finished product ensuring compliance with function, quality, and aesthetic specifications.
- Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned area.
- Maintains logs and records of material produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or substandard material.
- Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment.
- Assists fellow operators to achieve maximum productivity and minimize turnaround time.
Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Operator Certification or associate degree
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Fork truck license
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Understand and adhere to all plant safety guidelines.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to become certified as fork truck driver
- Ability to use a keyboard and learn applicable computer software programs
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 80 lbs. at waist level, up to 80 lbs. at floor level, and up to 40 lbs. at elevated level on a rare basis when moving products
- Display average coordination with both hands on a continuous basis while performing job tasks
- Perform elevated work on an occasional basis when handling products
- Stoop, kneel or squat on an occasional basis when handling products.
- Reach forward and to the side on an occasional basis when handling products.
- Stand on a continuous basis and walk on a frequent basis during the course of each shift.
