Sales Representative (Outside Sales)
Location: East Coast & Central Region
Star Plastics seeks a Sales Representative to join its highly collaborative team. Star is executing its growth strategy to create an industry leading $200M business selling custom engineered thermoplastic and elastomeric compounds, product solutions and value-added services targeted to end users in performance drive markets. With facilities in Ravenswood and Millwood, WV, Star Plastics is a provider of custom engineered compounds, specialty products, sustainability solutions and services that are sold to plastics distributors, plastics processors, and OEM’s in a variety of end-use markets. Summary:
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Sales Representative will be responsible for generating new business through direct sales working with OEMs and molders specifying Star Plastics’ materials. The Sales Representative must have experience selling to the plastics industry.
Essential Functions:
- Be creative in identifying prospects, develop prospects into leads, leads into opportunities and opportunities into new sales
- Collect voice of the customer (VOC) information and convey that information to appropriate parties within Star (e.g. quality, technology, operations, product management and other sellers.)
- Build rapport with existing, new, and potential clients
- Expand company's customer base focusing on direct sales
- Diversify the business into new markets and applications
- Manage leads, activities and opportunities using the Pipedrive CRM tool
- Working closely with management team to improve marketing materials
- Practice solution selling targeting opportunities that are a strategic fit
- Provide Technical sales support to achieve OEM specifications on new programs.
- Advance value-added services and solutions to the customer in line with Star Plastics’ offerings
- Sell the value associated with Star Plastics’ certified sustainable products
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated individual that is energized by growth opportunities
- Minimum 4-10 years of direct sales experience in plastics
- Experience in building trusting and mutually successful client relationships
- Proven ability to set and achieve sales goals through active collaboration and ability to influence the sale
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively in order to build sales as well as strategically develop new business
- Competitive drive and entrepreneurial mindset in order to expand client base and grow the business
- Ability to quickly learn new procedures, processes and product information
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and thrive in a high-performance, goal-oriented, team environment
- Experience in engineering resins including PC, ABS, PCABS and Nylon
- Technical knowledge of polymers
