What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet Metal / Duct Mechanic position at Star Service of New Orleans?
Star Service, the leading HVAC service provider throughout the entire Gulf Coast, is looking for a Sheet Metal/ Duct Mechanic to join our growing team in New Orleans, LA!
We are committed to providing excellent service, maintenance, and design-build replacements of air conditioning systems in commercial and industrial facilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assembling and installing metal duct and fiberglass board.
- Designing and installing ducts and duct fittings.
- Blueprint reading and understanding of sheet metal shop drawings.
- All phases of duct installation (spiral, rectangular, double wall, welded).
- Understanding of different connectors that are used.
- Hanger layout as well as some field measuring.
- Organizing work area and maintaining all hand tools.
- Submit paperwork, adhere to company policies, and follow safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 or 30
- TWIC Card (preferred)
- EPA608
- Minimum of 6 months experience in any types of sheet metal and fiberglass duct work installation on commercial/residential projects.
- Must be able and willing to follow job-site instructions.
- Lift heavy materials and not be afraid of heights.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
