What are the responsibilities and job description for the Comment Moderation Contractor position at Star Tribune Branding?
The Minnesota Star Tribune is looking for an independent contractor to monitor and oversee online audience interactions on all its platforms. A proactive and detail-oriented moderator will ensure that engagements align with the Strib’s brand voice and guidelines. We want readers’ comments to build an engaging, positive and safe place for community discussion. This person must have strong communication skills, experience in managing and moderating online discussions, and be able to handle sensitive situations professionally and tactfully.
Responsibilities:
- Actively monitor content on the company’s website, startribune.com, to help foster a vibrant online community. Assure positive interactions and discussions, promoting an inclusive and welcoming community atmosphere.
- Monitor and moderate user-generated content objectively to ensure compliance with community guidelines and policies.
- An informed moderator will keep up with news and other content on startribune.com and respond to internal communications on a timely basis.
- Identify and address inappropriate behavior, harassment, or harmful content proactively and discreetly.
- Implement escalation procedures for critical issues and work with internal teams to resolve them effectively.
Requirements:
- Experience in managing online communities, handling conflict resolution, overseeing online discussions, and maintaining a positive community environment.
- Ability to handle any conflicts with tact and professionalism, ensuring that sensitive issues are addressed promptly and appropriately.
- Background in journalism is a plus but not required.
- Hourly pay: $17, for up to 16 hours a week. Work is remote.
