Job Summary :
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a reporter for the inaugural David and Leni Moore Columbia Fellowship in Journalism. A recent Columbia Journalism School graduate will be hired into the Star Tribune’s newsroom in Minneapolis for one year starting in summer or fall 2025, with an option to extend.
This reporter will write news and enterprise stories on topics of interest to readers throughout the state. You can expect to balance daily coverage with longer-term stories, spotting trends and helping explain our changing state to our readers. We want all our journalism to be distinctive, ambitious and useful, becoming a vital part of our readers’ lives.
You will :
- Be relentlessly audience centric. Seek out and use data about where our audience is – and where we can reach new audiences – and work to break news and produce enterprise that meets audience needs and interests.
- Be enterprising and entrepreneurial. Our readers most value news and insightful reporting not seen elsewhere. Staying informed about evolving issues and emerging developments will result in stories of interest to statewide and regional audiences.
- Collaborate with editors and reporters across the newsroom to create coverage on multiple platforms.
- Leverage other mediums, such as audio and video and the camera on your cell phone, to reach wide audiences.
- Work regularly from the Star Tribune’s downtown headquarters.
