We are seeking a talented Technical Author / Trainer to join our Product Knowledge team and contribute to the smooth operation of our technical authoring projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Collecting Technical information (i.e. technical specifications, technical drawings, 3D models, pneumatic schematics, hydraulic schematics, manufacturer’s system/equipment documentation, physical surveys of procedures/times).
- Perform Content Authoring, following indicated standards and using traditional authoring tools (i.e. InDesign, FrameMaker, Xpress, Word, etc.), or authoring platforms (XML-based).
- Perform Illustration Authoring using applications (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Catia Composer, etc.), and Manage Illustration Authoring performed by internal graphic designers and external graphic suppliers.
- Review Content using various applications (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Catia Composer, etc.).
- Follow Review Cycle: Review, Correct, and Integrate Content after Client/Client Representative feedback to ensure Client approval and satisfaction.
- Oversee Publication and Delivery of documentation on the (CMS) platform.
- Archives source, process, and produced documentation following company standards.
- Report Progress and Status of the assigned projects (KPI) to the manager(s) in charge, following the applicable criteria.
- Client Interaction & Travel: conduct business trips to Client and supplier facilities (in Baltimore, MD) and participate in periodical progress meetings, workshop meetings, etc. when requested by Client(s).
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical authoring
- Background knowledge/experience in either mechanical or electrical fields
- (Mechanical) Intermediate level skill in reading and interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
- (Electrical) Intermediate level skill in reading and interpreting electric, electronic, and functional schematics.
- Knowledge of authoring platforms known as Content Management Systems (CMS) based on XML
- Knowledge of 2D graphic applications (illustrator, photoshop, etc.) needed to elaborate/rework graphics.
- Ability to travel to client facilities/offices when required
Preferred
- An engineering degree is a plus
- Previous experience with the railway industry, the technical training fields, etc. is preferred
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Work Location: Remote
