Title of the position: Restaurant Shift Leader
Department: Restaurant Operations
Reporting: General Manager/Assistant Manager
Job Type: Hourly/Full-Time
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Position Overview: Implementation of tactics to optimize restaurant sales and cash flow while helping to ensure adherence to quality, cleanliness, and customer service standards.
Essential Function:
Shift Leaders serve an important role in our restaurants because they help uphold employees to consistent standards of behavior. Their role is to provide managerial support when the Store Manager or other business leader isn’t available on-site. Shift Leaders share some of the same responsibilities as other employees on their team, plus additional responsibilities like opening or closing the workplace, delegating tasks, and signing off on assignments. Shift Leaders resolve problems with customers, help employees on the shift troubleshoot problems and document issues to report back to upper management. Shift Leaders must directly interface with Guests for at least 20% of their time. Shift Leaders cannot hire or fire any employee, decrease any employees scheduled hours for an in-progress shift without direct GM approval.
Job Responsibilities:
A Shift Leader performs leadership, management, and organization tasks to ensure team members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. Their duties and responsibilities include:
• Organizing shift positions for team members
• Monitoring attendance, tardiness, and time off
• Assigning duties to specific employees based on role and skills
• Supervising employees and assisting with tasks as necessary
• Managing employees’ requests and transgressions
• Training new and current team members on tasks
• Handling customer issues and managing conflicts
• Adhering to company policies and health, safety, and employment standards
• Balancing cash drawers and preparing cash deposits
• Opening or closing the restaurant operations
Job Specifications:
• Able to speak, read, and write effectively. Excellent oral communication skills to effectively communicate with management, corporate staff, restaurant employees, and customers
• Must adhere to Fuzzy’s uniform and grooming policy
• Able to stand and walk for approximately 95% - 100% of shift
• Able to lift and carry a maximum of 50 pounds
• Able to work flexible hours
• Ability to travel to assigned restaurant location and operate respective work stations. Work requires standing and walking 80-90% of the time
