The Volunteer Engagement Specialist provides volunteer coordination, recruitment, and retention efforts to advance the mission of Starfish Initiative.
Description
The purpose of the Volunteer Engagement Specialist is to assist with the strategy and execution of volunteer programming. The Volunteer Engagement Specialist will support the mentor-matching process along with the Match Specialist. This position is responsible for generating awareness throughout the business and philanthropic community in an effort to identify, recruit, and train the best-fit adult volunteer for every Starfish Scholar in our program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Recruitment Selection, and Retention
● Lead the effort to implement the volunteer recruitment strategy and revise the plan as needed.
● Identify and assess volunteer needs and opportunities, and design volunteer roles and responsibilities accordingly.
● Identify, implement, and coordinate a variety of volunteer recruitment methods to increase the number of volunteer mentors.
● Recruit and screen volunteers, ensuring that they meet the requirements for the role and the organization.
● Orient volunteers to the organization, its policies, and procedures.
● Create and implement recognition and retention programs for volunteers, including events, rewards, and appreciation activities.
● Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, ensuring that they feel valued and supported.
● Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance and impact, and use data to improve volunteer programs and engagement.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including tracking volunteer hours and contributions.
Developing and Fostering Partnerships with Community Stakeholders
● Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to promote volunteerism and engage a diverse range of Mentors.
● Identify and attend community outreach opportunities to recruit individuals.
● Contribute to the contents of the Annual Report.
● Create and contribute to the area of marketing and community engagement.
● Assist where needed in Starfish Initiative Annual events and other activities as needed.
● Collaborate with the Starfish Leadership Team to coordinate mentor recruitment in conjunction with corporate sponsor partnerships.
● Flexibility for evening and weekend work hours.

● Bachelor’s degree

● Flexible work hours, some evenings and weekends required for special events
