The Court of Common Pleas, General Division, is seeking an individual to serve as a part time Clinical Counselor for the Day Reporting Program. Under the direct supervision of the Day Reporting Program Director and the general supervision of the Deputy Court Administrator, this position will be responsible for conducting skill building groups and educational substance use disorder sessions with Day Reporting clients. Other duties include; gathering, processing, and assessing information necessary to determine treatment planning and services for clients working in a collaboration with the Court, probation officers and community providers as part of a treatment team for Day Reporting clients.
Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Must possess at least five (5) years’ experience in mental health, treatment of substance use disorders or experience in criminal justice or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess current licensure in the state of Ohio as an LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, or LCDC (LPCC/LISW preferred). Must have experience in completing assessments, individual and skill building groups.

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this job is, under the direct supervision of the Day Reporting Director/Clinical Supervisor and the general supervision of the Deputy Court Administrator to gather, process, and assess the information necessary to determine treatment planning for Day Reporting clients and to provide individual and group therapy to clients participating in the program.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible. Supervisory personnel may assign tasks which are not listed in the job duties section to employees under their direct or indirect supervision.
1. Comply with the Code of Ethics, the policies and procedures of the Day Reporting Program and the standards as provided by the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
2. Interview clients referred to the Day Reporting Program, gather historical and pertinent information from the client, probation officer, community agencies and others as needed.
3. Assess client’s risks and needs in regard to substance use, mental health, job readiness, health, parenting, etc. from information gathered.
4. Develop an individualized treatment plan with each client based upon identified risks and needs; coordinate the treatment plan with other Day Reporting staff and the probation officer assigned to the case.
5. Conduct individual or group therapy sessions for substance use disorders, cognitive behavior skills and emotional regulation by the Day Reporting Director.
6. Maintain client forms and records in compliance with all regulations governing the program
7. Refer clients to appropriate community services, provide case management and maintain an updated list of employment opportunities for clients.
8. Serve as a liaison with Court personnel, police departments, Sheriff’s Department, social service agencies, probation officers and others.
9. Assist other staff as needed; complete duties assigned by the Day Reporting Director in a timely manner.
10. Complete drug screening and breathalyzer tests on Day Reporting clients; report positive results immediately to the Day Reporting Director and the assigned probation officer.
11. Complete paperwork in a timely fashion; keep all records, reports, case notes, case reviews and files up to date.
12. Maintain statistics on Day Reporting clients as required; compile reports as requested.
13. Maintain confidentiality of all clients and program information.
14. Attend staff meetings, training sessions and case reviews as required.
15. Attend and participate in conferences and training sessions to keep abreast of current trends in substance abuse treatment and other clinical issues related to the Day Reporting Program.
16. Meet and consult with the Day Reporting Director on a regular basis, report any concerns or recommendations immediately.
17. Other related duties that may become necessary or as directed by the Day Reporting Director.

- Assume program clinical supervision responsibilities in the absence of the Director including and not limited to:
A. Review and sign off on diagnoses of dependently licensed staff and provide clinical supervision to staff in absence of Director/Clinical Supervisor.
B. Occasionally provide coverage for Director/Clinical Supervisor on Specialized Docket Treatment Teams. Provide clinical guidance in treatment team as needed.
1. Must possess a Master’s degree in counseling, social work or related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Must possess current licensure in the State of Ohio as an, LISW, LPCC, LISW-S or LPCC-S.
3. Must possess at least five (5) years experience in mental health, substance use disorder treatment, the criminal justice field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Must have experience in completing diagnostic assessments, providing individual and group therapy and must be able to work with diverse populations..
1. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
2. Must be able to interpret documents, instructions and procedure manuals necessary to ensure fulfillment of essential duties.
3. Must be able to write clinical assessments, routine reports and business correspondence.
4. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, their families, attorneys, Judges, supervisors and the general public in person, in writing and on the telephone.
5. Must be able to calculate figures and amounts.
6. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
7. Must possess knowledge of interviewing policies and procedures and be able to make appropriate evaluations and recommendations.
8. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
9. Must be able to complete paperwork neatly, precisely and in a timely manner.
10. Must be able to understand legal terms and definitions.
11. Must maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, physical crisis intervention; must maintain clinical licensure.
12. Must be culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of various populations.
13. Must possess knowledge of community resources and be able to interact cooperatively with these services.
14. Must possess knowledge of group dynamics.
15. Must possess knowledge of the criminal justice system.
