Compensation : $85,000 and up depending on experience
Hours : Full Time; Exempt (not eligible for overtime); Mon-Thurs, 6 : 30am-5pm; on-call after-hours & weekends

Position Objectives :
Under administrative direction of the Stark County Board of County Commissioners, provides overall vision, strategic planning, direction and management of the Road Department. Responsible for project design and construction, traffic engineering, development and execution of County Road policy and programs. Coordinates the activities of department staff involved in construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of roads, bridges, access ways, and drainage structures including the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
Minimum Requirements :
- Knowledge of principles and practices of administrative management.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of road construction, maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws governing road construction, maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective employee supervision.
- Knowledge of the road system and political boundaries of the County.
- Ability to read, understand and apply regulations, codes, policies, procedures and other operational guidelines and directives.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, technical manuals and related sources.
- Ability to develop operating procedures and control methods.
- Ability to prepare various reports.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple projects and / or demands.
- Ability to assess, analyze, identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County staff, County Commissioners, other public officials, contractors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to operate various road construction equipment.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and various software applications.
