Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Summary:

Starkey Veterinary Clinic is a small veterinary practice that has been caring for dogs and cats for 24 years. With one veterinarian, the practice provides a family atmosphere.

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing high-quality care to our animal patients and support our veterinary staff in various clinical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood counts
- Assist veterinarians in administering medications, vaccines, and treatments
- Prepare animals for surgery, including monitoring anesthesia
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files
- Educate pet owners on animal care and treatment plans
- Handle animals with care and compassion during all interactions

-Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones

Requirements:

- Excellent customer service skills

- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs
- Self-motivated

- Must love animals
- Has reliable transportation

Training is provided and no previous experience is required.

Preferred Skills:

- Certification or degree from an accredited Veterinary Technician program

- Proficiency in animal physiology, veterinary terminology, and aseptic techniques
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique in a veterinary setting

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
