Starkey Hearing is adding an Electronics Technician II to it's team at our Global Headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. The Electronics Technician II is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, including New Product Development activities, transfer of the process recipe to Production and Repair sites, Continuation Engineering activities, and continuous improvement projects.

JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for Custom (In the Ear - ITE), Standard (Behind the Ear - BTE), and accessory hearing aid product development, testing, and transfers to production. Electronics Technician II signifies that at least 50% of the competencies of the next higher career “track” have been achieved.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS
• Develop custom and/or standard hearing aid products and accessories
   o Provide Design for Manufacturing input to Mechanical & Microelectronic Engineering for all new designs
   o Perform testing and analysis of hearing aid components from industry suppliers
   o Act as a technical interface between Electro-Acoustic Engineering and other departments
   o Participate in design review and Failure modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) meetings
   o Order & track components to support product development activities
   o Assemble new circuits and sample hearing aids with software developed by Software group
   o Develop hardware and software test plans to verify functionality and quality
   o Generate test reports and engineering specifications
   o Evaluate and provide recommendations on circuit and hearing aid performance
   o Learn and utilize all application software and software tools developed by Software group
   o Troubleshoot and resolve technical performance issues
   o Develop fixture(s) with Integration Tech
   o Help drive process improvements and lean product development process
   o Check and verify quality

• Support the transfer of new designs into manufacturing
   o Train production staff on all new and changed processes
   o Create and approve engineering and production release documents
   o Provide technical support to manufacturing
   o Troubleshoot and resolve technical performance issues
   o Check and verify quality

• Maintain and support existing products and features
   o Serve as a technical interface to Continuation Engineering
   o Provide technical support to resolve issues pertaining to existing products
   o Support Homologation efforts
   o Review product quality grid reviews / failure reports
• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements
• Education
    o 2-year Electronic Technician degree/certificate or equivalent is desired.
• Experience
   o Minimum 2 years of experience in hearing aid production or development is desired

Knowledge / Technical Requirements
• Intermediate knowledge of hearing aid components desired
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office desired
• Intermediate knowledge of product development process desired
• Some knowledge of ANSI, IEC, and homologation standards desirable
• Some knowledge of geometrical measurements desirable.

• Must be self -motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good Manual dexterity required

WORK CONTEXT
Working Conditions
• Normal business and electronics lab conditions; <5% travel required.
Equipment Operation
• Acoustic test chambers, audio analyzers, o-scope, power supply, DMM, microscope, soldering iron, UV light, drills, precision hand tool

Salary and Other Compensation:  

The annual salary for this position is between $22.21/hr to $30.29/hr. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  

Benefits: 
The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, include medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term disability insurance, long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program, hearing aid benefits, PTO, 6 paid holidays annually, 2 floater days annually, 1 volunteer service day annually, paid paternity leave, and tuition reimbursement.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
