What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Interventionist position at Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District?
- Implement a systematic process of instructional and behavioral interventions that complies with the required three tier system
- Assist teacher support groups in analyzing student work and help coordinate the implementation of appropriate intervention strategies
- Participate as a part of the district intervention team in implementing a system of universal screening in reading and mathematics for all students in grades K-12
- Conduct ongoing staff development for teachers and administrators in the areas of baseline screening and instructional interventions
- Attend Teacher Support Team meetings at each school
- Assist principals and staff members in analyzing data as the basis of prescriptive interventions and the application of differentiated instructional strategies
- Accurately record and track student intervention data
- Insure that interventions in the assigned school are carried out with fidelity as prescribed
- Educate parents and community members on instructional and behavioral intervention practices in the district
- Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor of impending absence in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties/responsibilities appropriate to student intervention, differentiated instruction and/or content training needs off the staff and district
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of three years experience as a classroom teacher and appropriate certification from the State of Mississippi
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all staff members to plan and implement appropriate instructional interventions
- Knowledge of the state-adopted academic content standards and frameworks
- Knowledge of analyzing data as the basis for instructional decisions
- Ability to use technology effectively
- Strong organizational skills in scheduling interventions, tracking individual student progress, teacher and parent meetings, and data application
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Leadership qualities in the area of staff development and demonstration lessons
- Knowledge of current educational research in the area of response to interventions
- Experience in working with multiple grade levels and differentiated instruction
- Demonstrated commitment to personal professional growth
