Robotics Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUMMARY: This position plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop academically and personally.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Exhibits consistent planning of daily instructional goals, strategies, and methods of assessment that are consistent with the district and state curriculum.
• Ensures that adequate plans for substitutes as available as needed.
• Demonstrates effective instruction and implementation with strong context, content, and pacing knowledge.
• Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional strategies that will benefit all students including underachieving and special needs populations.
• Demonstrates effective analysis of assessment results and implementation of instructional interventions to achieve mastery.
• Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining student engagement.
• Exhibits quality written and verbal feedback that addresses individual student needs.
• Exhibits high expectations for self and students.
• Maintains a classroom environment that is supportive of all students.
• Demonstrates evidence of student progress towards school and individual goals.
• Shows evidence of involvement in school and district activities.
• Demonstrates continued growth by participation in professional development activities.
• Builds successful relationships with parents in order to impact maximum student achievement.
• Maintains accurate and timely records.
• Plans for and actively participates in the Teacher Growth and Development process.
• Adheres to all safety procedures, rules, and policies to ensure the well being of all students.
• Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies principal or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
• Maintains active supervision of students during all work and duty assignments.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
• Provides ample opportunities for all parents to participate in parent teacher conferences.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the principal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

All teachers must be qualified as defined by federal guidelines. Teachers must possess a bachelor’s degree and full state certification or licensure. Pre-K teachers must hold a Mississippi teaching license with Pre-K/K endorsement. K-6 teachers must have elementary certification or may have a designated subject certification in grades 5 or 6 if they are departmentalized and only teach that subject or subjects for which they hold certification. Teachers in grades 7 and above must be certified in the area that they teach.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have add-on endorsement 927 Project Lead the Way (PLTW) – Middle School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Environment: Standard office and school settings to include classrooms, gyms, libraries, cafeterias, and recreational areas; moderate travel; exposure to potentially stressful environments; regularly perform inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate lifting up to 20 pounds; regularly required to walk, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; may require climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
