What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher/Assistant Coach (Football) position at Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District?
SUMMARY: The Teacher/Assistant Coach plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop academically and personally and assists with the design and implementation of the athletic program for the assigned sport in accordance with the MHSAA rules and regulations.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the head coach in all functions of the assigned sport.
- Supports all programs sanctioned by MHSAA.
- Organizes sports events and schedules practice sessions
- Prepares and maintains training equipment and monitoring and evaluating team performance.
- Exhibits consistent planning of daily instructional goals, strategies, and methods of assessment that are consistent with the district and state curriculum.
- Ensures that adequate plans for substitutes as available as needed.
- Demonstrates effective instruction and implementation with strong context, content, and pacing knowledge.
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional strategies that will benefit all students including underachieving and special needs populations.
- Demonstrates effective analysis of assessment results and implementation of instructional interventions to achieve mastery.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining student engagement and exhibits quality written and verbal feedback that addresses individual student needs.
- Exhibits high expectations for self and students.
- Maintains a classroom environment that is supportive of all students.
- Demonstrates evidence of student progress towards school and individual goals.

- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education with Mississippi teaching license. Teachers in grades 7 and above must be certified in the area that they teach.
- Knowledge of assigned sport.
- Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport.
- All coaches are required to have a current CDL and successfully complete bus training school, which includes driving, testing, and drug screening.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Environment: Standard office and school settings; moderate travel districtwide and statewide; exposure to potentially stressful environments; regularly perform inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate lifting up to 25 pounds; regularly required to walk, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; may require climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
