Director of Nursing (DON) - Starlite Recovery Center

We are currently seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to join our esteemed team at Starlite Recovery Center Recovery Center. This full-time, salaried position is an integral part of our dynamic leadership team. The DON will be responsible for overseeing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising nursing services and the provision of behavioral health / nursing care. Starlite Recovery Center is a 130-bed premier addiction recovery center located on 55 acres of beautiful Texas hill country in Center Point, TX. Starlite offers an unmatched natural environment in which to recover from the devastating effects of drug addiction and alcoholism. Innovative chemical dependency treatment has been the hallmark of Starlite Recovery Center for over 65 years. The Center focuses on the treatment of adult men and women aged 18 and older who have been struggling with substance abuse and chemical dependency. The facility offers numerous programs to address the diverse patient population and the specific needs of the individual.

What would you do in this role?

The DON will be a key member of the team at Starlite Recovery. The DON directs, plans, coordinates, monitors, and supervises nursing and the delivery of behavioral health / nursing services. We are looking for someone that provides a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and the nursing staff.

Although our hospitals are free-standing and run independently, you have support from Corporate and are never alone. From day one, you will be paired with corporate recruiting to help with recruiting efforts to help bring in the best talent for your facility. You will also be paired with a Corporate Nurse leader to mentor you and support you in this role. Responsibilities :

  • Sets the vision for nursing practice in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable and patient centered care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints.
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel.
  • Provide clinical leadership, strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff.
  • Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity / care needed.
  • Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrated sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety
  • Determine, assign, and assess performance objectives for nursing department.
  • Organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols within the facility to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards.
  • Responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency of the nursing department.
  • Lead and develop the nursing staff within the facility, providing performance goals, feedback and development opportunities.
  • Set and carry out policies, goals and procedures for their function or department.
  • Evaluate the quality of care, staff's work and the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the function or department.
  • Develop and oversee function or departmental budget and reporting.
  • Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
  • Provide direct care as needed. Direct and conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing required. Masters degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred.
  • Five or more years nursing experience.
  • Three or more years progressive managerial experience required.
  • Three or more years behavioral health experience preferred.
  • LICENSES / DESIGNATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Current TX RN license.
  • CPR and de-escalation / restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
