Job Summary:
Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a dynamic and experienced underwriting professional to join the Risk Management Casualty underwriting team as an Underwriter in Atlanta. The successful candidate ideally will have at least 5 years of experience in underwriting and a strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles. As a Risk Management Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting commercial insurance applications.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite commercial insurance applications for large casualty accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and procedures
- Analyze and interpret data to determine risks and potential exposures
- Determine appropriate coverage and pricing for each policy
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients to ensure quality service and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with underwriting team members and other departments to achieve company goals and objectives
- Monitor performance of accounts and make recommendations for improvements or changes as needed
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations and guidelines
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degrees or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience underwriting casualty lines of coverage, including Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Excess Liability.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management within the casualty insurance segment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and brokers.
- Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
