What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Estimator position at Starr Electric Company, Inc.?
Purpose of Position::: The Assistant Estimator will participate in obtaining, estimating, planning, coordinating, and supporting pre-construction activities related to potential projects. The Assistant Estimator will also participate in marketing efforts to obtain new clients and projects for the organization. The Assistant Estimator will be responsible to see that proper documentation is provided to project management and accounting to support the activities related to company projects. The Assistant Estimator shall maintain appropriate relationships with client contacts in order to assure their satisfaction with work performed by Starr Electric Company, Inc.

Starr Electric is a business casual working environment. Normal office hours are 8am – 5pm but can be somewhat flexible. Most of the job function is performed in a climate-controlled office setting requiring normal safety precautions.

- Work under the direction of the Estimator for activities relating to estimating performed by Starr Electric Company personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure that all applicable safety requirements and housekeeping issues are maintained to the highest possible standards.
- Routinely meet with appropriate parties to verify that estimates are being developed in an accurate manner and reflect actual costs.
- Ensure that proper and accurate information is being utilized for company estimates.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job planning meetings, job progress meetings and provide estimates for projects as required.
- Actively engage and/or assist in the marketing efforts of the Company as deemed necessary to further the goals of the team.
- Responsibly determine the needs for additional resources and present data to support those needs to the appropriate authority;
- Maintain relationships with others in the organization so as to provide for a positive work climate;
- Administer directives as assigned.
- Adherence to Starr Electric’s policies and procedures, including Starr Electric’s Environmental, Health, and Safety program.
Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites: :
- Prefer 2-4 years of previous electrical experience (industrial/commercial)
- High School Diploma, GED or Vocational Background preferred.
