Our Crisis Management Team is at the forefront of addressing complex risks, and we are looking for a dynamic Senior Underwriter to join our team in the Midwest. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Crisis Management Team. This role is pivotal in driving business results for an assigned book of business, with a strong focus on new business production and account management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in underwriting, particularly in Crisis Management products, and will be responsible for managing the development, growth, and profitability of their portfolio.
Key Responsibilities :
New Business Production & Account Management : Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining and nurturing existing client relationships.
Portfolio Management : Oversee the development, growth, and profitability of the assigned book of business and / or territory. Ensure accountability for underwriting production goals.
Underwriting Expertise : Underwrite a range of Crisis Management products, including :
Product Contamination Insurance
Product Recall Insurance
Restaurant Foodborne Illness Insurance
Corporate Kidnap, Ransom, and Extortion
Workplace and Political Violence Response Insurance
Pipeline Tracking & Forecasting : Monitor and forecast production, budget, rate movements, and loss activity within the portfolio.
Producer Development : Cultivate and manage relationships with wholesale and retail brokers. Engage with brokers to drive business growth.
Market Presence : Travel to key markets and accounts, maintaining high visibility and engagement in the marketplace.
Product Development : Contribute to the development and revision of products, marketing materials, and underwriting templates.
Cross-Marketing : Collaborate with other Starr product teams to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
Data Collaboration : Provide data and insights to actuarial, claims, and finance teams as needed.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Food Safety & Quality, Engineering / Science, or a related field.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience, with at least 3 years in underwriting preferred. Experience in Crisis Management or similar products is highly desirable.
Track Record : Demonstrated success in managing an insurance portfolio and developing strong relationships with wholesale and retail brokers.
Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong presentation skills are essential.
