Starrett-Bytewise Measurement Systems is a growing company that designs and builds precision, laser-based, non-contact measurement equipment. We are seeking qualified individuals for a Field Service Technician position based in Columbus, GA. The role of Field Service Technician is to provide professional service and support for Starrett-Bytewise customers by performing installation, start-up, repairs, maintenance, and phone and internet-based support.

Job will frequently be performed on customer site, typically at a manufacturing facility, but significant time will also be spent at the Starrett-Bytewise facility.
Candidates should have a strong background across several technical knowledge areas including mechanical, electrical, and software. Experience with field service or industrial maintenance is a significant advantage. Qualified candidates will have strong problem solving, inter-personal, organization, time management, and communication skills.
Due to the length of the training period associated with this role, the candidate must either be located close to, or be willing to relocate to, Columbus, Georgia.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship for this position is not available at this time.
Education: Associate, Technical or Bachelors (2 or 4 year) degree in a mechanical, electrical, or software field. In lieu of degree, significant work experience demonstrating versatility across these fields will be considered.

Essential Functions:
Field Service and Customer Support:
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to Starrett-Bytewise systems at worldwide customer locations.
- Train and educate customers on use of the systems including software functionality, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Accurately track spare and replacement parts sales and system history in provided format.
- Provide phone and internet-based support to customers.
- Must be able to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, as required by customers.
- When not traveling, the Field Service Technician will assist the Production Department at our facility in Columbus, GA, building and repairing systems and sensors. This includes the requirement to read and follow blueprints, plans, specifications, and other documentation.
- Schedule and track all travel arrangements for your assigned projects.
- Communicate with customers in a professional manner to ensure service needs are met.
- Provide written post-trip service and expense reports as required.
- Must maintain valid driver’s license and U.S. passport.
- Excellent spoken and written English is required, other language skill is beneficial.

- Customer manufacturing facilities frequently have dust and other airborne particles and allergens.
- Starrett-Bytewise employees are furnished with a variety of personal protective equipment and are required to follow the safety procedures of the facility they are working in.
- Work is almost always performed indoors, however, many of our customers do not have climate-controlled facilities. Field Service Technicians are required to perform their duties in a variety of conditions from hot to cold and arid to humid.
