JOB SUMMARY: This position has primary responsibility for coaching clients with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs); preparing meals, snacks, shopping for food, and other various lifeskills. Assist with and supervise meal preparation in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Ensure that all safety regulations are followed and the facilities are maintained in a safe and clean manner. Assist with client laundry, household cleaning and other tasks as needed. This position performs a variety of tasks to ensure that the facility is in a clean, orderly, sanitary and attractive condition.The Household Coach is a para-professional treatment team member who is also responsible for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the clients through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction. Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Manager, or designee in most cases, but some tasks are accomplished independently. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years of ageEmployment is contingent on:Successfully completing a pre-employment Health Screening and a TB clearanceReceipt of “clear” or approved Live Scan results and Criminal Background ClearanceEducation Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Experience Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumerdirected services in a mental health, health care or social service agency. andOne(1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or otherrelated medical facility preferred. Knowledge of and experience preparingtherapeutic diets, preferred. License or Certification Valid California Driver's License.First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross. ServSafe Food Handler CertificationSpecialized Skills Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, clients, family members, visitors andthe general public. Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas,and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order,safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
