Job Summary: The Safety Specialist is responsible for providing a high level of customer service through maintaining a safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff and physicians. This care is provided through direct and indirect physical and verbal interactions with clients, modeling appropriate behaviors for clients, and monitoring daily client activities. She/he screens incoming clients/visitors for contraband and inventories all client property as well as monitoring surveillance equipment. The Safety Specialist controls access to the center, answers/directs incoming clients, conducts physical security checks of the center grounds, and responds to fires and/or emergencies at the center. Schedule: 3pm-1130pm, weekend days Job Duties: Supervise, protect, and care for clients individually and in groups. Welcome all guests and screen all non-staff who enter the facility. Collect and inventory all newly arriving client property. Controls disturbances and assists staff in de-escalating volatile situations. Provide exceptional customer service to all staff, clients, guests and visitors. This post is expected to remain diligent to monitor all of the events within the area including all video surveillance cameras. Provide for general safety and security of the staff in the facility. Staff shall make a complete security check of the facility at least once every two hours. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and two(2) years of relevant experience in the Mental Health field or an AA degree in a related field and one(1) year relevant experience in the Mental Health field. Valid California Drivers License and clear DMV printout preferred Valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS(Bureau of Security and Investigative Services) OR commitment to register as a Security Guard with California BSIS within 90 days of employment required
