Are you an experienced personal trainer and tired of the "globo-gym" trainer position where sales is prioritized over actual coaching? Or maybe you're new to the strength and conditioning field and have a passion for helping people improve the quality of their lives using the most efficient and effective program in existence? Do you have a background in biology, physics, or engineering and are looking for a different way to apply those skills?
Starting Strength Cincinnati is growing and now looking for candidates interested in becoming a Starting Strength Coach at a Starting Strength Gym. This position includes paid on-the-job training to give you the skills necessary to become a Starting Strength Coach. The apprenticeship program begins the quickest pathway to becoming a Starting Strength Coach. We use the Squat, Press, Deadlift, Bench Press, and Power Clean as foundational movements to get our members stronger. Starting Strength Coaches are the best coaches on the planet and in incredibly high demand. Apprentice candidates will have strong analytical skills to solve movement problems in real time to improve a gym members' strength and performance. A personable approach and good communication skills are also key to success.
Responsibilities
- Shadow/Assist/Lead group personal training sessions
- Provide excellent customer service and an enhanced member experience during training sessions
- Learn and refine understanding of the Starting Strength Method - coaching members of various experience, abilities, and backgrounds
- Attend weekly coaching development meetings
- Enroll and complete the "Starting Strength Coach Prep Course"
- Complete the Novice Linear Progression (NLP) using the Starting Strength Method.
- Willingness to read and familiarize yourself with "Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training" by Mark Rippetoe
Qualifications
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Passion for helping people improve the quality of their lives
- Time management skills
- Background in fitness/exercise, personal training, or STEM (Physics, engineering, biology) preferred but not required.
- Curious, eager to learn, and willing to ask questions.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 35 per week
