What are the responsibilities and job description for the Targeted Campus Instructional Coach (Title I) position at Startzville Elementary School?
Please note this position is funded through Title I funds and continuation of position will be dependent on the availability of Title I funds.
Primary Purpose:
Improve the campus instructional program to help disadvantaged students reach high academic standards through instructional coaching and supplemental support of the campus intervention program. Provide support for teachers in the implementation of evidence-based practices in the classroom through professional learning, modeling, and instructional coaching to support the academic achievement of all learners, including those students identified at-risk. Provide supplemental support to the campus intervention program and provide additional and supplemental instruction for students identified for intervention.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Master’s degree (preferred).
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
- Teaching certification held in multiple areas is preferred.
Experience / Other Requirements
- At least 5 years teaching experience.

- Ability to share proven instructional approaches.
- General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
- Proficient in utilizing assessment data to inform and guide instructional practices.
- Experience in implementing evidence-based interventions for increased student achievement.
- Knowledge of successful techniques for classroom organization and experience planning for effective instruction.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Extensive knowledge of the subject area assigned.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides high-quality supplemental instruction for students identified for intervention.
- Assists campus staff in implementing an effective intervention program using evidence-based programs and instructional practices.
- Provide collaborative and one-on-one instructional coaching and facilitate teacher learning and related professional development to improve academic success of students.
- Work with administrators to align instructional support to the Board of Trustees Student Outcome Goals and the district and campus priorities.
- Lead data sessions that look at both formative and summative assessment results and suggest and monitor evidence-based intervention strategies and materials for students.
- Ensures that the state and district content standards are the foundation of instruction in all content areas.
- Works with teachers in the development and internalization of lesson plans.
- Coordinates and conducts staff development on the campus and district levels.
- Models evidence-based instructional practices through classroom demonstrations.
- Makes informal classroom observations and provides immediate feedback for the purpose of instructional support, program improvement, and increased student achievement (not evaluation).
- Uses technology to disaggregate test data to inform and grade curricular and instructional program improvement on a school, class, and individual student level.
- Assists teachers in effectively incorporating the use of technology into the instructional program.
- Assists teachers in developing sound, defensible procedures for assessing student progress and for reporting that progress to students and parents in a timely manner.
- Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with administrators, teachers, media specialists, guidance counselors and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program.
- Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with district-level curriculum and program coordinators to ensure rigorous, relevant curricula and instructional practices that will increase student achievement.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
