JOB TITLE: Mental Health Clinician (Bilingual Spanish Required)

REPORTS TO: Program Manager
POSITION STATUS: Full- time, Non-Exempt-32 hours per week
SALARY: $35 per hour, plus Spanish bilingual $1

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
StarVista’s Child and Parent Services (CAPS) is available to any family with a child 0-18 living in the cities of San Mateo County, who have been the victim of child abuse and/or neglect. Services are for victims and/or their caregivers. Family members may also qualify for services with the treatment of the child. The program is anchored in providing intervention services to victims of child abuse and/or neglect. Services are available in the family’s home, in their community or virtually. Range of services includes:
- Individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Clinical Case Management
- Parent Education Workshops and Parent Support groups in the community.
- Clinician will provide individual, group, and family therapy as needed. Clinician will provide workshops in the community geared toward parents.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide mental health support to parents and families utilizing a short-term model and solution focused treatment
- Provide weekly in home, in community or virtual sessions
- Assess families by utilizing the PSC-35 and/or DSM-5-TR assessment tool and program clinical intake assessment
- Provide crisis intervention, family support, parent education, safety planning, and intake assessment for families and their children
- Provide appropriate psychoeducation and clinical case management services
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to coordinate ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally informed, and holistic interventions to address client issues and enhance client strengths
- Become familiarized and utilize STEP, TF-CBT and Solution Focused Therapy
- Prepare and facilitate parent education workshops and/or parent support groups
- Maintain timely and clinically appropriate documentation of all clinical services
- Attend meetings, didactic training, clinical supervision and other mandatory trainings
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Demonstrable and verifiable clinical skills and experience in providing therapy services.
- Strong ethical principles reflected in practice, including a thorough understanding of client confidentiality requirements, appropriate clinical record keeping, and federal/state laws governing the practice of mental health services.
- Understanding of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Willingness to explore self in relation to these issues, and ability to provide culturally informed therapeutic services to diverse clientele.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Skilled in maintaining positive relationships and collaborating with other systems, including parents, school, probation, CPS, and other programs.
- Ability to work as a team member with staff and upper management to accomplish tasks supporting the agency’s mission.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Seeking a post-degree candidate who is registered with the BBS as an AMFT, ASW, PCCI or Board of Psychology.
- Driver’s License and HR clearance required, including TB test, and Department of Justice LiveScan Fingerprint clearance
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
