What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Statistics Summer Intern position at StataCorp?
StataCorp is seeking a statistical intern. Interns work with a senior member of Statas development team. This position may include projects in the areas of Bayesian analysis, maximum likelihood estimation, multiple imputation, multilevel modeling, power and sample-size analysis, and nonparametric statistics, as well as other areas.
StataCorps summer internships offer students the opportunity to learn the inner workings of statistical software development by working closely with StataCorps professional staff at its campus in College Station, TX. Statistical software development is a challenging and rewarding career, ideal for those with a graduate education in statistics or a related field and those with a keen interest in using their problem-solving skills to produce commercial software for use by all types of researchers, from medical professionals to leaders in finance.
Job duties may include learning how to use and program in Stata; collaborating on projects suitable for publication in the Stata Journal; creating support materials; and assisting in adding new statistical features to Stata, along with testing and documenting those features.
Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD program in statistics or a related field and must have completed at least three years of graduate coursework. Candidates must also have good statistical, technical writing, and communication skills and have experience programming in Stata, C/C , Java, or other statistical and programming languages.
