The Fiscal Services Division (FSD) of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic leader for the General Ledger Unit. Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator (AA) II in the Accounting Branch, specifically within the Financial System Support and Reporting Section, the AA I (Supervisor) will lead a team of six professional staff in the General Ledger Unit.

The incumbent will be responsible for performing complex accounting duties, preparing, reviewing, and analyzing the required monthly reconciliations for CARB and CalEPA funds and appropriations to ensure that their balances are accurate. This role also involves monitoring the cash balances for CARB and EPA funds and reconciling fund and appropriation balances with records maintained by the State Controller’s Office (SCO) and the State Treasury Office (STO).

Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to identify any discrepancies and take appropriate action to resolve them, which includes reviewing, analyzing, and researching aged reconciling items. They will need to resolve these issues by posting adjustment entries in FI$Cal and preparing adjustment entry requests to the controlling agencies, such as SCO and STO. The supervisor will also review bank reconciliations as part of their responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense.
