What are the responsibilities and job description for the AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I position at State Air Resources Board?
The Industrial Strategies Division is seeking a creative, organized and proactive first-level supervisor, Air Resources Supervisor I (ARS I), to oversee a team of professional and technical staff working on carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) and engineered carbon dioxide removal (CDR) work in the Stategies Assessment Section of the Carbon Management Branch. This position will be instrumental in supporting the deployment of CCUS and CDR in California, key strategies needed for the State to achieve carbon neutrality by mid-century. The SAS section primarily implements the requirements of Senate Bill 905 (Caballero, 2022) which calls for CARB to develop a multi-faceted CCUS Program including close collaboration with other state agencies.
Under the general direction of the Air Resources Supervisor II (ARS II), the ARS I will direct and oversee the work of a team of professional staff performing technical and policy work related to CCUS and CDR technologies and projects. The ARS I provides general leadership to the section; directs the development and implementation of regulations and other program guidance materials; leads, participates and supports staff in conducting workshops and other stakeholder engagement; and, represents the program in public venues and working groups.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.
The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense.
