Assistant State’s Attorney: Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (“MCIN”) Grant Position
The Office of the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County is seeking an experienced prosecutor to fill a Gang/Organized Crime Prosecutor grant funded position. The incumbent will independently direct, conduct, and monitor investigations, prepare, and conduct motions hearings, bench and jury trials, draft pleadings, and other court filings in connection with the prosecution of state violent crimes, human trafficking, firearms, and narcotics violations. The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth and Victim Services (GOCPYVS) supports this limited term grant-funded vacancy. Grant funds received support compensation wages (salary) only; subject to change based on available funding.
Funding Period: 7/1/2024 to 6/30/2025 Salary: $106,828.00
Benefits: Grant employees are entitled to 40 hours of Sick and Safe Leave and will be eligible to utilize Sick and Safe Leave after completing 106 hours of employment.
Location: State’s Attorney’s Office, 14735 Main Street, Suite M3403, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctor degree, be licensed in the State of Maryland to practice law and have (2) years – six (6) years of post-graduate legal experience that includes criminal jury trial practice experience. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will work closely and coordinate with local police departments, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ("ATF"), the Federal Bureau of Investigation ("FBI"), and federal and state task forces to identify individual and organizational targets warranting prosecution for violent crime, firearms, human trafficking, and narcotics-related violations.
The incumbent will be expected to assist in both the investigation and prosecution (including extensive grand jury, pre-trial, and trial work) of a variety of violent crimes, human trafficking, firearms, and narcotics violations, including, but not limited to: (1) crimes against persons, (2) firearms offenses, (3) human trafficking, and (4) use of firearms in relation to violent and drug trafficking crimes.
